Dear Friends and Valued Customers,
Effective immediately Factory Mutual has declared that all Large Drop sprinkler approvals are on hold. Factory Mutual’s attempt to verify that their new testing facility could reproduce testing criteria for the Large Drop Sprinklers has shown inconsistent results. Factory Mutual feels that further testing must be done to resolve the inconsistencies. This approval “hold” is effective for all manufacturers of Large Drop sprinklers. Manufacturers’ cannot sell Large Drop sprinklers with an FM approval until the approval “hold” has been
resolved.
For the immediate future, Tyco Fire Products will continue to quarantine the Large Drop sprinklers with the FM approval stamp that are in our inventory and will not manufacture more products with the FM approval stamp. Large Drop sprinklers that have been previously sold, are in distribution, and have been previously installed are not impacted by the FM approval “hold”.
The Tyco Fire Products LD sprinkler is also UL approved. For non-FM insured projects, you can still use the Model LD Large Drop sprinkler on your projects with no repercussions.
